Plum Lovers is a ripe and rich drone project prepared by long-time friends and collaborators Austyn Wohlers and Ruby Mars. Living in different cities, their collaboration sprouted as a sporadic series of remote improvisational Twitch streams. For “Stone to Liquid,” they traded tracks via email to sculpt bright, succinct, and detailed drone works.

The six tracks in “Stone to Liquid” are a complexly joyful blend of shimmering electronic sound and metallic physical waveforms. The result is an immersive tangle of organic and inorganic sound, a plum tree studded with jewels, far removed from recognizable guitar strings, synth knobs, and flute pads.

This first release of Wohlers and Mars’s ambient duo clears a plot for future growth and verdance. More music by Austyn and Ruby can be found at austynwohlers.bandcamp.com and whipcreamsfruitquartet.bandcamp.com.
